Some of the injuries most commonly attributed to car accidents include: 

• Whiplash – especially common with rear-end crashes, when the head is thrown forward, the neck is over-extended, which can cause neck and back pain, dizziness and partial disability for a period of time.
  
  
• Broken bones and damaged joints– the force of several tons can prove too much for human bones, which often break in car accidents, requiring surgeries to remove bone fragments and even artificial joints when problem areas like knees or elbows have been shattered.
  
  
• Back and spinal injuries– back injuries like pinched nerves and torn and bulging discs can cause serious discomfort and interrupt your ability to work and even enjoy life. More serious forms of back injury to the spinal cord can cause permanent paralysis and loss of the use of legs, arms or both.
  
  
• A Head injury – In their most mild form, this type of injury is known as a concussion and is often accompanied by confusion, loss of consciousness and headache. More serious head injuries include skull fractures, internal bleeding, potential swelling and years of rehabilitation.
